Yttrium is a silvery, lustrous metal, often classified with the Lathanide series because of its similar properties. It is one of four elements named for Ytterby, Sweden. [The other three are Erbium, Terbium, and Ytterbium --Wolf]. It has been used to provide the red color in color television tubes.
